This series explores a disappearing black community from an upstate New York town. Photographs from my own family album are collaged on original views of today’s Saratoga Springs. When living in town, it was my nostalgia for black people that sparked these photographic works. They evoke the former existence of a black community and its energy, which has now faded. They raise the question of belonging at a time when the black population in upstate New York is in decline.
